Major/Essential Functions

• Provides leadership of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

• Provides patient care in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology to newborns, children, and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings

• Participates in the education of medical students and residents

• Supervises advanced practice professionals in the clinical setting

• Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

• Serves the academic community through participations in institutional governance such as committee work and other administrative duties

• Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission

• Adheres to institutional and departmental polices and procedures

• Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations

• Demonstrate Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred)
• Experience in teaching students and residents in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
• Experience with participation in clinical trials with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG)
• Emerging regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
• Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics

Required Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign medical degree equivalent
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship program
• Must have a Texas medical license or eligible for medical licensure in Texas
• Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics
