Major/Essential Functions
- Provide patient care to newborns, children, and adolescents in hospital setting.
- Supervise medical students, residents, and advanced practice professionals in the hospital setting.
- Participate in the education of medical students and residents.
- Engage in the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and scholarship.
- Serve the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work.
- Contribute to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations.
- Demonstrate professionalism in accordance with the Paul L Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility.
- Participate in committees and other administrative duties within the department and the school of medicine.
- Uphold and promote the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso.
Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program.
- Texas medical license, or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics for the rank of assistant professor or higher.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Emerging or established regional or national professional reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher.
- Experience in teaching students and residents in pediatric hospital medicine.
