Sun River Health, originally founded as Hudson River HealthCare (HRHCare) in 1975, began as a grassroots initiative in Peekskill, New York, to address the healthcare needs of underserved populations. Initially started in a renovated space by four women and a group of dedicated volunteers, the organization grew steadily to become one of the largest federally qualified health center (FQHC) networks in the state. Over the years, Sun River Health expanded its services to include comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, and social support, emphasizing culturally competent care and health equity. In 2020, the organization rebranded as Sun River Health to better reflect its broad reach and mission, now serving communities across the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island.
